Heirloom Garlic Seed

Music

R40.00

Music is a Porcelain Garlic. Brought to North America by Mr. Al Music from Italy in 1980. Big easy to peel cloves. The taste is medium hot with a true garlic flavour.

This Porcelain performs well in colder climates.  A good choice for gardeners and farmers since it is both popular and easy to grow.

Description

Flavour and Uses

The mellow, raw flavor is great in uncooked dips and salsa. This garlic is hot, sweet and pungent. Very good for roasting Cloves are large and easy to peel.

Appearance and Size

Slender, regal leaves and a well curled scape. Scape removal is recommended to achieve good bulbing.White skinned with a blush of pink. On an averages 4-5 large cloves per bulb. While the outer wrappers are brilliant white (hence the name Porcelain) the clove skins often tend toward purple, though they can be white as well.

Harvest and Storage

Mid-season harvest. The wrappers are pretty sturdy on Porcelains and so the bulbs can stand waiting a bit longer before harvesting, maybe when 50 – 65% of the leaves are browning. Always dig down and inspect the bulbs to make sure they’re doing well and use your own judgement. Porcelains are a good storing garlic. Expect 8-9 months.
